About 'Shetar dy Petar'

“Shetar dy Petar” is a joint electronic-acoustic album by Viktar Siamashka and a double bass player Eryk Arlou-Shymkus. This is a recording of their live jam at NewTon Art Buffet (Minsk) in May 2012. Clarinet, bass and percussion are intertwined here with loops, delays and Korg Monotron chords.

Viktar Siamashka is a Belarusian poet, broadcaster and musician seeking a synthesis of free jazz, folklore, academic and electronic music. He specializes in a wide range of wind instruments often played with sound effects. His main artistic credo is spontaneous improvisation.

Eryk Arlou-Shymkus is one of the most prominent Belarusian double bass players. He plays in “Knyaz Mishkin” and “VuRAJ” bands, Classic-Avantgarde ensemble and with bards Victor Shalkevich and Palina Respublika.

“Shetar dy Petar” is a dialectal phrase from Lahojsk region of Belarus meaning ‘noise and fuss’.
